The purpose of the Manitoba Music Educators' Association (MMEA) is to support and promote music education and provide a unified voice for music educators in our communities.

The MMEA Board includes a representative from each provincial partner organization listed below. The work of the MMEA is strengthen by collaboration with these five groups which collectively represent diverse music education practices.

A Voice for Music Educators

  • MMEA works together with our partner organizations to provide high quality professional development opportunities for all music educators.

  • MMEA supports ongoing curriculum and course development led by the Department of Education and Training.

  • MMEA collaborates with the Association for Music Administrators in Manitoba (AMAM) to address teacher shortage and training as well as to plan an annual Leadership Conference.

  • MMEA meets regularly with the Minister and Deputy Minister of Education to discuss issues related to Music Education.

  • MMEA meets regularly with the Canadian Music Educators’ Association to discuss and address strengths, successes, and challenges of school music programs in Manitoba.
