Music Advocacy Poster
The music advocacy poster "The Sweet Sounds of Success" is available to all Manitoba Music Educators and Manitoba Schools, free of charge.
This very colourful and timely poster features many, famous Manitobans supporting Music Education. Included in the poster are such luminaries as:
Gail Asper, Sylvia Kuzak, Mark Chipman, Thomas Steen, Ray St. Germain, Stuart Murray, David Northcott, Jennifer Jones and many, many otherrs. Size 26" x 39"
To get your poster(s) please send your request to emarshall@sjsd.net
Include the following information.
- Number of Posters requested:
- Name:
- School:
- School Division:
Delivery may take several weeks.
Orders from the same school division may be combined and sent to a central location for distribution.

Provincial Report Cards
Manitoba Education has posted the new-updated templates for provincial report cards.
MMEA is pleased to report that the latest update of the report card from Manitoba Education has incorporated the recommendations from MMEA.
We strongly urge our members to become familiar with these documents by checking the government website.

- Further input will requested from all MMEA members and affiliated groups. Stay tuned
- The report card templates on the web-site are in draft form. MMEA will continue to monitor this project to ensure authentic, valid and informative reporting on music education can continue

Call for Nominations for the Music Learning Resource Review
The Grades 5-8 Music Learning Resource Review will take place on May 18, 19, and 20 and the deadline to apply is March 14. Manitoba Education provides sub costs, mileage, parking costs, meals, and any required accommodation costs during the review.

Music in Manitoba Schools to be celebrated in April

Twenty-seven Manitoba schools are receiving a portion of a $10,000 grant for special music projects and events in April, which is Celebrating Music in Manitoba Schools month, Education Minister Nancy Allan announced today.
“Music education is very important to a student’s development, contributing to a lifelong appreciation for the arts,” Allan said. “The music grants schools receive from the province are used to enhance regular curriculum through special projects and activities throughout April.”

The MMEA Board is please to announce that Judy Giesbrecht (Ruchkall) has accepted the position of Tempo Chairperson.
Judy has been a music educator for many year and served as Music Consultant in the Transcona Springfield School Division and as the Arts Consultant in the River East Transcona School Division. Judy has extensive organizational and leadership experience and a track record of excellence in planning events. Judy has been a member of The Manitoba Choral Association, the Manitoba Band Association, the Manitoba Orff Chapter, the Association of Music Administrators of Manitoba and the Winnipeg Music Festival among others. Now in retirement , Judy wants to continue to serve music education in Manitoba.
